Rotation and Game Play
Per City Guidelines: Court time is limited to ONE game to 11, win by 2.
If not playing a game, limit court time to 20 minutes
Exit courts quickly upon completion of use, and announce "court open"
Also when courts are full, doubles are preferred to maximize the number of players on the courts. If you wish to play, your paddle must be in the stack to rotate in
Waiting players stack paddles in groups of four in sequential order along the North fence.
BE AWARE: STACKING BY SKILL LEVEL IS NOT PARK POLICY. People will say it benefits beginners. It doesn't, it allows better players to skip others and get on a court faster. Complaints? Contact MI Parks and Rec at (206) 275-7609, or miparks@mercerisland.gov.
The team on the north side of the court serves first
You may join an incomplete stack (less than 4) at any time.
Do not touch or move anyone else's paddle (forward or backward) without their permission
Players can rotate back onto the courts as many times as they desire by stacking
Players actively on the court cannot have a second paddle in the stack, nor have someone "holding a place for them" in a stack. There a few people that do this regularly. Stop them, tell them it is not allowed. You can report them at (206) 275-7609, or miparks@mercerisland.gov.

No leagues, lessons, or tournaments unless permitted by the City of Mercer Island. Currently there are none permitted.
USA Pickleball Rules
Like most places, we follow USA Pickleball official rule book. This allows those playing at Luther Burbank or MICEC to have the same experience as they would on Bainbridge to Long Island. There may be a bit more swearing in Long Island, though. Or maybe not, depending upon who is playing.
