The Mercer Island Community and Events Center is an award-winning facility and a gem of the island. It's beautiful, modern, and in a great location. There are scheduled drop in play for a fee as well as special events. Please go to the MICEC website for more information and any scheduling updates. The gym is also available for pickleball rentals. The drop in schedule as of November, 2023 is:

Perhaps one of the most beautiful parks in the Seattle metro area. As you head east to the water from the north parking lot, you will hear the dink and whack of pickleballs on the current 3 courts. While originally constructed for tennis, the courts have been lined for pickleball, and the nets lowered. These are very old outdoor courts that are slated for demolition and resurfacing, starting in 2023. The design work is expected to begin in the fall.

The courts are very playable as any of the regulars will tell you. Frequently all 3 courts are in use, but the games are quick and you typically are not sidelined for long, if at all. Generally it's a very sociable group, like Pickleball everywhere. At any given time you'll find all skills playing together. All are welcome. Courts are not reserved, and open play rules are observed. Expect to put your paddle down with a new group, mixing it up and maybe hit an Erne for the first time. Play is available all year, depending on weather, as if it ever rains in Seattle. However, be warned: The courts do become slick because of natural debris (leaves, pollen, etc), especially around the edges. Tread slowly and carefully when retrieving missed balls along the sides.

You can simply show up and play. Most of the regulars will use Play Time Scheduler to let others know what time they will be out on the courts. Not familiar with Play Time Scheduler? It's a free website where you can sign up for many of the public courts around Puget Sound, even the world. Look for the Greater Seattle Area, and then for Mercer Island on the date you are interested. It's super easy and free. Don't see anyone playing when you want to be outside? Start your own session and see if others sign up. Please note the site is a tool for meeting other players and arranging games. It is not a reservation system. Boys and Girls Club (new as of November, 2023)

The Mercer Island Boys and Girls Club is starting a pilot program for open indoor play. Cost is $7 for two hours. There is a signup available on Playtime Scheduler.

Mondays and Thursdays
Beginners/Intermediate from 10-noon
Advanced Noon - 2pm

Parking available in front of the building, and to access Pickleball please walk around the right side of the building and down the outside stairs, and enter the double doors just off the kids' play area.

Not sure how they will manage who is a beginner, intermediate, or advanced. Regardless, it's great to have access to more indoor courts!
